“We tried playing Motörhead, but it didn’t work. Then we started making stoner, which began as black metal. That didn’t work out either, so we just tuned to C,” says frontman Toby of the relatively new Eindhoven sludge/punk/stoner/doom/power trio Alabaster (not to be confused with the band from Chicago) in a 2022 interview with Eindhoven RockCity. Alabaster, which means gypsum marble (fitting for the band’s musical style), is a great addition to the ever-expanding Eindhoven rock scene, with citymates like Candybar Planet, 7Zuma7, Komatsu, Repomen, The Devil’s Blood, The Dirty Denims, and many more rawkers.
