If there was one band in the ’90s that captured the zeitgeist of young people and young adults perfectly, it was New York hardcore-metal band Life Of Agony. Formed in Brooklyn in 1989 (heavily influenced by NYHC bands like Cro-Mags, Sick Of It All, Agnostic Front, and Murphy’s Law), the quartet immediately made an international impact with their melancholic debut album River Runs Red, released in late 1993.

The rest of LOA’s history is well known. After River Runs Red, the band delivered two more outstanding albums: the melodic Ugly (1995), featuring the hit Lost At 22, and Soul Searching Sun (1997), which took a slightly more psychedelic turn. They later released A Place Where There’s No More Pain (2017) and The Sound of Scars (2019). Over the years, LOA’s members have been involved in various side projects, but they remain a staple on European stages—including this year at HELLDORADO.
